Cinematography

The film that is shown above is not my own piece of work however I am using it for evaluation purposes only. The short film had no general storyline, as it was just mainly a series of different camera shots blended together which include; long shot, pan shot, wide shot, extreme close up, close up, point of view, low shot, crane shot and high shot. Unfortunately due to lack of time, they were unable to include all shots.

The camera techniques used below will be shown below:
Long shot- It is a shot that is from a long distance and is usually used to begging the opening of a scene or movie. it sets in motion the audience perception of time, place and logical action of the scene that is about to happen.

Pan Shot- This is a shot where the camera moves from right to left or left to right.

Extreme Close Up - A shot where it is fixated on particularly one thing, e.g eyes. It is used to show mystery, dramatic effect, detail and curiosity.

Close Up- This is a shot where it is tightly framed on a person or object.

Medium Shot- This is a commonly used shot. If the shot is not long or a close up it is a medium shot.

Crane Shot- This is a shot that is taken with a crane. This is used to get a high angle of an actor and to move up and far away from them, this is commonly used to end a scene or movie.

In my opinion, they did not use as many camera techniques as they could of. They could of also included, rolling shot, tracking shot, over the shoulder shot, POV Shot and high and low angle shot.

Rolling Shot- A shot in which someone is moving side ways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xuLzrKjp80

Tracking Shot- This is a shot where a person's movement is followed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKuGWHyz-gI

Over the Shoulder shot- This is a shot commonly used during a conversation, this is where the camera is looking over someones shoulder to see the other person talking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgC5wVdecPk

POV Shot- A shot in which you can see from the characters point of view. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOYQ_jLyS_0

High angle shot- This is a shot taken from a high angle which usually portrays someone to be weak and vulnerable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V1uE1-wTPs

Low angle shot- This is a low taken from a low angle which portrays a person to be dominant and powerful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V1uE1-wTPs
